Ellz’s LsFd build

Tried the y pipe on today and really happy with the fit the header flange is hitting my steering Uj so that will need addressing

Flipped the top uj and now the steering intermediate shaft clears the headers :D
Been away in Poland for the last week so nice to have an evening back with her

Spent the evening doing a few bits, made a little bracket for the power feeds in the bay and started on the radiator mounting
I’m using a Japspeed 3” core rad off my old supra
Mocked up one side mount for the bottom of the rad and will make the other tomorrow I’m thinking of just having a bit of flat steel for the radiator to sit on with bends either side to mount to the chassis rail
I’ll have to modify the ports on the radiator and make a expansion tank higher up but saves me dropping £400 on a mishimoto one
Also put my nice new sticker on

Oh and I relocated the fusebox that normally sits at the front of the bay to underneath the front crash bar so it’s out the way

Where's the intake going? are you going to send it to one of the side pods or something?
I'm considering doing it over the rad when I get round to replacing it. :)

Spent the very hot evening working on the radiator mounting
Happy with how it turned out mounted to the chassis rail which strangely had m6 threaded holes passenger side and m10 drivers side
Need to sort some mounts for the top to hold it in place

I wanted to go over the rad but I think I’ll end up going into the driver’s side pod gonna order some 4” aluminium to make that

Depending on your rad it can be pretty tight for space going OTR. If I did mine again I'm not sure I'd bother, but it was fun making it and it looks tidy.

Started on the rad this evening
Made a new top tank to delete the old ports and got it welded on need to add the 33mm tube for the coolant still but happy with the results
I never get a chance to ally weld so it’s not amazing but learned a lot doing it

Also got to the bottom of my clutch issue today
I couldn’t get a decent pedal even with lots of bleeding, I was worried it was that the clutch master couldn’t move enough fluid for the bmw slave cylinder but replaced the slave today and that didn’t help so I turned up a 30mm extention for the slave cylinder rod and that done the trick now it dis-engages

Offered up the radiator quickly this morning and looks like it’s gonna sit lovely
Looks a lot cleaner without the filling cap
Still need to weld a port in for the coolant return

Order of my pics is messed up

But got some time to finish off the radiator today
Welded on the top return and a port for a header tank

Took inspiration from the Samberg header tank and recycled the fill point that was on the radiator to begin with

All bolted in and gave the header tank a lick of paint, happy with the results

Aiming to have the car finished for retro rides gathering but it’ll be tight

Another day with the nail today
Mainly tidying electrics and wiring in a gauge
Had the car running briefly and alternators charging the system which is good
Also tidied up the abortion that was the wiring for the radio

£300 in parts ordered today for the bottom rad hose, intake and bump steer correction bits
