Briggsy's TCP Magic Track Project

So a nice bit of progress this week. Firstly the old sh*t was cut out from the previous cage and it looks like he was preparing to make this FD armoured 😂😂

But with all of that cut out the new cage is in the process of being fitted and I'm excited to see it all fully installed so the fuel cell can get mounted!

Looks tidy, I welded in mounts for a trim dodger, a real cage looks a lot better 😂
I'm just waiting for actual welded photos as they are just tacked in those pictures. Maybe he even started the bash bars in the doors, but we will see.

I am starting to look at body shop recommendations for bodyshops too, if anyone has any?
The car and I are located in Surrey, but I don't mind travelling up to the Midlands area as family live up there.
Would be for the exterior and interior being resprayed.

Maybe talk to @Francob about a respray if Bristol isn’t too far for you - his is looking 👌
Thanks mate. Bristol would be fine. Only across the a303 or m4 depending where it is.
Yes Anil is based in Thornbury near Bristol. Can’t recommend him enough. Very talented and a real passion for what he does. Private message me if you want his number.
Perfect!
I'll drop you a message now 👍

Progress on the fuel cell mounting is well underway now!!

The cage shouldn't be far off completion now too, then it'll be time to see how my seats are mounted and see if I have the clearance to wear a helmet with the cage or if the mounts need to be lowered slightly.

Very close to putting in an order with CarShopGlow for some more carbon goodies as well 😍😍

Close to the cage being complete now! Then a little extra chopping of my dashboard and it should be looking pretty sick!

Collecting it on Saturday, which is when no the dash will get trimmed and then, from a few recommendations, I'm off to a couple of bodyshops which are local to the fab shop, in my quest to find a good one to get it booked in later this year.

This is going to be wild when done, as kits go it’s one of the best! 🙌🏻
I'm hoping so!!
Had a very good chat with the bodyshop today so hopefully that can be something that gets booked in for very late in the year.

Then in the mean time, I may play with the brakes/suspension and get that all sorted

So not much happening, but more of a little bit of prep ready for tomorrow when hopefully both subframes, all control arms, suspension and brakes removed ready for powder coating and new bushes/spherical bearings, will probably end up with new wheel bearing, hubs and basically anything else I can replace 😂 will be getting a complete new brake set up and coilovers too.

And then because I needed room in the unit, I chucked the seats in and took a quick snap to give an idea of how that'll end up looking.

It is booked in the bodyshop too, but that's not until this time next year, to allow me to get a few bits done and give me chance to save up, as it's going to cost a decent amount, but will be having some bits done that will make this build even better.

Much better now I can actually go down whenever I want and do little bits on the car if I need to.

I think I am reading this right, did the doors need to be sacrificed for the cage?
i guess the windows wont work now :D
Yes that's correct, I didn't realise but the NASCAR door bars push out quite a lot, so the lower ¾ of the inner door has gone. So lexan windows it is for me 😂

I think I am going to keep the carbon door cards though and have them cut to shape to fit around the cage and make the upper section "more attractive" haha

So had a few parcels recently, all related to my suspension overhaul. supplied me with the full set of Super Pro bushes, a front and rear sway bar, as I didn't have a front one anyway and the rear one was cut at both ends so was completely useless!!!

Also decided to get my pillowballs from Sakebomb Garage, with all new dust seals, just waiting on the circlips to arrive to complete the set. Not many on here have tried these, so may be a bit of a gamble, but I haven't heard many bad things about their products so thought it was worth the risk.

Next up will be to get all the control arms and subframes sent off to get powdercoated, then I can start to rebuild it all.

Not a huge update, but more carbon to add to the build!!
This time, they are carbon wheel arch covers for the engine bay, just to cover the big gap and fit in with the rest of the car. Should stand out quite well with the bright yellow and carbon contrast.

Also have my new brake kit being shipped over so in the next couple of weeks that should arrive.
Gone for the AP Racing Competition 4 pot fronts which will be pair with their 325 X 32mm J-Hook discs. Then have the upgraded RacingBrake rear conversion which, like the Sakebomb kit, allows for a larger disc to be used with standard caliper, maintaining the hand brake.

The brake bias on these is almost exactly the same as stock from the spreadsheet I have been sent from the previous owner, so looks like a very good upgrade for a bargain price compared to new.
