Briggsy's TCP Magic Track Project

Mate looking good I've got to do the same thing as well and chop my cage out, all for the better though more safe and professional fitted
Thanks man!
Yeah, it is for the better and will now match the quality of the rest of the work, rather than being awful welds on basically scaffolding poles 😂🤦🏻‍♂️

what was wrong with the old cage?
just been through the whole thread - this is going to be nuts!!!! 😆
So since taking it out, the guys at the garage believe it was made with scaffold poles, or something similar. It weighed a tonne!! Also quite a few of the welds were not to a great standard and the gussets on the front windscreen were installed the wrong way!
But in the grand scheme of things, at least I ended up with the car still and it can all be replaced, as others weren't as lucky when dealing with him.

That is the plan, it should be a pretty mental build. I'm hopeful now that I have all the sh*t out the way from the previous "garage" and now it should all go smoothly.

It really is!
I can't recommend the guys at Dip Demons down in Newton Abbot enough though. They have discovered a tonne of problems that the last guy made, and fixed them to a fantastic standard. I just wish I had come across them sooner.

As mentioned before. Make sure you try before you buy on the roll cage. I'm fairly sure you won't fit comfortably with the Custom Cages design unless you drive with your legs very bent. At the very least I would suggest lowering the floor (this is what my friend has done to his) and not fitting the diagonal bar that runs above the driver's head.

I have taken this in to account as well and either way would need a bit of work on a pre fab one.
The AST roll cage I did sit in at SEMA and albeit that may not have been my exact driving position, it did seem to be a pretty good fit.

Just a few others with the bonnet fitted from the other day I popped down to have a look at it in person. First time in probably 2 years I have seen this with an almost complete front end on it 😂

Had the body kit removed again for now, mainly to protect it when I get the roll cage installed so I don't have to have it repaired before it gets sprayed.

I have ordered the AST Roll Cage which should arrive early February, when it will get installed and sprayed.

Most of the body prep has now been done and the final bits of sh@tty filler have been removed, and the whole shell is now finally one colour and in primer. The interior has also been resprayed black.

They have gone to some trouble masking the floor just for primer? Is it primer or bar coat? Looking much better now!

They have! I only noticed once you mentioned it 😂 he just said it was primer when he messaged.
I'm away in Norway at the minute so can't pop over and see it, but from what he said, just primer.

Thanks man, hopefully in 4-6 weeks it'll be practically sorted, in terms of bodykit being fitted and sprayed etc.

what's going on with your boot floor? did you add the panel or cut out the wheel well? was looking at mine and wondered about it but its scary :D

It has had the boot floor cut out and replaced with a flat floor. When the cage gets fitted it will have my fuel cell mounted in there.

That one was etch primer 👍 I have just been chatting to him, it's now been grey primered over the top.

He is now moving on to the individual parts of my bodykit getting all of those sanded down and ready for primer too.

Had the carbon re laquered to make sure it all matches and has a super high gloss to make it look better!

Also had the engine bay sprayed up in what will be the final colour of the whole exterior, Aston Martin Sunburst Yellow and from the photos, I think it looks epic 😍

A bit more progress being made. The rear quarter panels have now been fitted and smoothed in to the shell.

The bonnet has had some work done too to get the shut lines nice and even around the headlights.

Hoping the roll cage gets finished soon and shipped so that it can get fitted and sprayed up and then the kit can get finished and sprayed.

Nice, this lets down so many FDs, even the pricey "mint" ones!
I agree. I have spent a fortune on the whole project so far, so I may as well spend the little bit extra to try and ensure all panel gaps etc are perfect.

I am really hoping that next month at some point the new cage is installed and the whole thing will be resprayed.
