rob fd - sleeper spec

Latest posts

Well as previous posti killed the engine a while back, good news is its not to bad lol. It only took me 5000km to lose compression on 2 face on a brand new crate motor from mazda lol.

I removed and stripped the engine down about a week ago. Then Stu and myself(I stood and watched lol) opened the block to find very minor damage from a chipped corner seal. Only 2 parts of damage. I was very lucky as the damage is in areas i planned to modify anyway. The exhaust porting will extend past the dink on the port and were the edge of the rotor has been caught is going to be machined down for the clearancing and lightening anyway.

The spec for the rebuild is going to be:

Lightening, balancing and clearancing, studded and dowelled. Goopy apex seals and a half bridge port and large exhaust ports. So will be well in spec for some big rpm usage.

Yeah they a decent size lol. Doesnt help the rotary has a foot print about the size of a A4 piece of paper lol.

Rob we do make pre made inconel shields for that turbo manifold, we can ship straight out. Test fit on one of our cast units before shipping. That heat wrap is looking rough!

Bummer on the motor...

Nice to see you on the site Elliot. Yeah I thought about the heat shield a few times. Unfortunately engine build and new fuel system going to have to take take preference. I would however be more than happy to review one for you as a loyal customer :)

Hi, Rob met you at Stu's the other day, i was the chap with the bronze rx7 in for mapping. Nice car mate, still can't believe how lucky you were with the tip chip! Didn't realise your car was pushing so much poke, will be savage with the new build (y)

Cheers

Thanks mate, yeah couldnt believe it myself apart from the 2 little dinks engine was like new but then I guess it would be only doing about 5000km lol.

Yeah I did wonder if you were on here. I was gonna ask but forgot to before I left. How did your tuning go? Hopefully some what more efficient now? 😂

Yeah ive torn down quiet a few engines with similar incidents yours is by far the best/luckiest ive seen! Yeah i've never seen a engine look in as good a condition.

Yeah same i forgot too. Tuning went well, it only used about 1 &1/4 tanks on the return drive compared to the 2 & 1/2 on the way there lol. just goes to show how much fulled was pulled out off it!! yeah ive got to say im allmost enjoying driving it again now, but in true rx7 fashion its shit its self in other ways now all the suspension's shagged out:confused:
