Ellz’s LsFd build

Got a aux belt today perfect size thanks to the string method

Also managed to get the Ls1 header flange drawn up by a guy at work works out 1/3 of the price of buying it from a shop to get them laser cut, probably gonna go mild steel for the headers as I want to go long tube which is gonna be a lot of bends

Also had a clean up and put my tools away that had been floating around the floor for the past 6 months

Thats exactly what I did, I've got two (maybe 3) of those in mild steel in the garage, I had them cut at the same time I had my sub-frame parts laser cut, but didn't use them as I went with stainless in the end.

I decided to go stainless in the end, have quite a lot of sch 10 316 tube at work that I can use so will only need a few bends

Stayed after work and turned a bush up for the diff brace

Measured up the mounts for the ppf to make my own have been having a play on AutoCAD for iPhone just as a trial and had a go at drawing the mount I have to make, certainly easier to read than my janky drawing

Stainless flanges are on order in 10mm 304 stainless

Cut out and bent the bracket for the diff after work today drilled the top holes (55mm hole centres if anyone was wondering)
Will drill the bottom ones tomorrow it’s a bit of a pain to mark out cause the studs are offset

Need to re think my bush and make it again like a top hat style

I love building stuff like that. Just wish I had those facilities. Looking good.

Thanks man I’m very lucky to have home use of the workshop it’s saved me thousands to far, the sikky diff brace I’m using for inspiration would be $500 before postage, so far this has cost me £20 for the cds tube

That's the good thing about building stuff yourself. You don't have to pay for labour or postage :)

Re made the bushes into a top hat style and tacked the bush housing on
Unfortunately there wasn’t enough room where I had planned so I had to scrap the first bracket and make another with the bush being mounted further forward and lower
I’ve welded the bush housing on and everything seems to clear I need to cut some more material out to make it look a little nicer and add some strengthening but should do the job 🤞

Think the Rx7 is going to be on the back burner for a week or so because I want to weld in some new arches on my daily as they are very bad now and need replacing
You can’t buy replacement arches for integras so I will be making some eg civic ones fit hopefully

Bit more work on the diff bracket today
Added some 6mm plate to stiffen it up as 3mm was quite flexible
Also plated the bush housing to further reduce play

After finding a 1/2” 15mm socket I managed to get the old flywheel bolts off and put the pmc billet flywheel on
Unfortunately I couldn’t torque it up cause my torque wrench doesn’t go high enough so I ordered one on amazon should be here today
Clutch bolts arrived too so should have clutch on and gearbox on by then end of the weekend

Wins and losses today.

I managed to get the clutch fly wheel and adapter plate in and torqued up but unfortunately there just isn’t enough space to get the gearbox in while the engines in so engine had to come out
Luckily it’s just two bolts and she’s out but annoying
So new plan is to get the gearbox on outside of the car and paint the engine mounts on the chassis rail while it’s out. Has anyone used chaste white aerosols? Wondering what they come out like

Clutch lines sorted using torque -3 am lines joining to the original hardline on the ps

Got the gearbox mounted up for good now so many bolts holding it
Put the engine back in little more hassle than before I guess cause of the subframe and starter motor but it’s home now hopefully for a while

Also managed to check the flanges and they fit which is nice

So I found a thread on no-rotors about bump steer correction, as the subframe I made is like 70mm lower than stock my steering geo is goosed and the kit from Samburg is like $300 someone found these for a tenner that work with the fd hubs winner winner

as I’m very tight I’ll be modifying the bmw prop to suit the fd, I started tonight with this adapter that will have dual PCD’s and will bolt to both the fd diff and the bmw prop
I really struggle turning but I’m quite pleased with how this turned out I’ll be adding the holes and counterbores when I have time to set up the indexing head on the mill
