Another negative review of RX motors from me too, and seems to be a theme here with overheating....
In my case it seems he didn't bother to tighten up the thermostat housing, had one bolt sitting a good 4mm proud too. I can't describe how I feel about his work without swearing.
I used to be a tech at BMW, and for someone who's meant to be a professional, and has been in the game a while something like that is like first year apprentice BS mistakes.
I got this car in April/May, went to look at in in March and it was miss-firing constantly. The previous owner had had it built by Tim Rx motors 3 years prior so took it to him for inspection before I bought it.
It had a chipped Apex seal and was rebuilt by them again in preparation of be buying it.
The chip was most likely from bad coil packs that weren't checked, or if they were re fitted after the build.
I went to @Stu Rotortorque for mapping with Jay, they diagnosed the coils, got me some good ones and mapped it - Stu and Jay are both brilliant guys and their knowledge and the way they work is pretty flipping impressive.
Basically the car had never ran as cool as my old one, it's on a radtec V mount and the old car had an ally rad and ebay FMIC.
Did Snetterton in september and the car kept hitting mid to high 90's and ended my day by blowing the coolant line under the TB (most likely air in the system....), again no hoses had been changed, all 20 yr old etc.
After completing the build for them (W/P and stat gaskets, W/P from my old car that didn't sound and feel like it had sand in the bearing, correct fitting and new belts at correct tension not trying to kill the bearings and bleeding it up) its been fine since. Hopefully I got slightly lucky...
