Nowadays when driving the car it feels like it's smashing into a giant pothole when there's barely any hole. In contrast my Subaru with Bilstein suspension feels planted and absorbs the bumps.

Now is it bushings needing replaced or are my shocks knackered.

Any recommendations for street use?. Not going to be tracking it but I don't want it to be bouncy.

I use meister r zeta and they are awesome, adjustable, cheap as chip's and uk supplied. Great for street and track and pretty much proven with sponsorship all over the place.

If you want to splash out go with ohlins.

Wow, would mind eating from your local chip shop. They are like £800 lol.

I hear good stuff with regards to Meisters though. A lot of the Starlet lads run em.

Was aiming for around £5-600 then obviously cost to have them fitted.

Where's best to buy or is eBay etc ok?

For £600 id be looking at HSD dual tech or BC racing. They are a doddle to fit on a rx7 if you can swing a spanner. If not its less than a hours work so wont cost alot.

Before you buy anything id personally be checking the car out to make sure its definitely shocks.

Grab a set of hsd from driftworks, they do 0% finance for 12months, they are around the £800 mark, that's what I am planning to do.

Lol, I'm sure i paid £670 but this was a while ago. Id say that's pretty cheap for brand new, spec your own, adjustable coilovers. The big brands start around 2k and go north from there.

Don't buy jdm unless your 100% sure of the spring rates etc. Usually they are super super hard and awful on our roads.

What the hell is everyone chattin? if you can find decent brand new coilovers for less than the price of meister R's then you're doing well.
If you get lucky then you may find a set secondhand for £400. Meister R's are cheap.

Bear in mind that most of the budget (£7-800 mark) brands (HSD BC Meister) are the same components from china painted different colours.

The next step up from the budget bracket would be something like ohlins which cost £2.5k

If you go on ebay searching for "coilovers yo" then for other cars you'll get cheap no brand parts, I don't think there's any for the FD as prob too small a market, but I would avoid these with like the plague.

There may be decent shocks and spring combos cheaper, but I would have thought around the same price. although I've never researched this so I wouldn't know.

Fitting yourself is pretty easy. I paid a garage to do the corner weighting and they charged about a hour to set up the ride height.
If you're struggling with fitting then bring it to me.

Trying to avoid throwing a spanner in the works but I also have a '95 import and my car has been sounding pretty bad with this as well. Just rolling off my drive makes it sound like there's something banging about in the back. I've just brought it up to Pips on Friday and hes found that my bushes at the rear are shot so I'm having them replaced.

I have always wondered, is corner weighting worth the expense for a road car? I have thought about doing this a few times.

I did it, cost a few hundred quid, didn't get much from it.

If your car" feels" out after all the usual stuff then maybe is worth it but mine was pretty good when it went in.

spent about 350 i think for laser alignment, ride height adjustment and corner weighting so I didn't think that was too expensive? I think they charged per hour for the corner weight machine, but mine needed one adjustment so was laughing. whereas a laser alignment is flat price of 120 ish. they also dry stored it for me over xmas :) lol wasn't planned that way but extra winning.

Bit late but now looking at picking up some coilovers. Are these alright?
