Hi All,

I bought a set of these last week, with the intention of getting them refurbed.

I'm down in the south, and have tried several companies now, including the main guy's Spit and Polish and Lepsons.

All have said they can't do them, due to the wheels being "Bolt type" two parts rims. Most have said they used to, but don't touch them anymore.

Does anyone have any similar experience? or know of any places that can?

Thanks,

I had trouble finding somewhere too. Was getting quotes of £850 and that's wheels that are already spilt and not including assembly.

I have now decided to just do them myself. You can get 2k aerosols now.

Yeah, really didn't think I'd have this much trouble. If I have to spend that I may as well just by some brand new wheels (not split rims).

If you do them soon, I'd be interested in seeing how they turn out (y)

I think people confuse these with 3 piece wheels which need sealant to rebuild, but these don't

If I was you I'd strip them down yourself, get them painted, then rebuild them yourself, its time consuming be easy job

if they are two piece as joe says then just split them yourself, give the outers to someone to sand/polish and get the centres powdercoated. then literally bolt them back together

Thanks guys, yeah definitely two pieces. Sounds like a diy job then. Thankfully they haven't got any damage, just need stripping/sand blasting and then the lips polishing up, or a complete colour change.

Its strange cos both refurbs said no straight away, I thought it would be because of replacing the bolts. But both had pictures and both said it was due to re-torquing the bolts they don't have the correct tools. They're just alen key one end, and 10mm the other?!?!?!?!

Thanks again

I think in a lot of cases it's not cost effective so they just over price themselves. Undoing that many bolts takes a surprising amount of time. You will be very lucky to not snap one in the process. Also it's probably cheaper to buy new bolts than refurb them (£120 maybe). Probably quit tricky to do them up without damaging the finish too (main bit I am worried about).

It's a lot more labour than doing a stock wheel.

I bought new bolts when I did mine, was about 100 ish

I found taking them apart wasn't that difficult but torturing then up took fucking ages. Put them in hand tight, 10Nm, 25 Nm. Can't remember exactly but was between 30-60mins per wheel to torque back up.

I swear places get them confused with 3 peice wheels which are more difficult to do with sealant, and then potentially leaking having to do it again and losing all your profit

Thanks again guys, that was going to be my next question. Took one of the bolts off last night.

"If" I can take them all off without snapping any. Would people recommend reusing the bolts? I've spent all afternoon searching for replacements, a few people are selling "second hand" Volks bolts like i've taken out above. So id be covered if I snapped any. I did think I could get them all re anodised.

But I can't see anyone selling similar shapes to these.

Or is this a big no no with Splits????

Edit: Sorry ignore the 1st attempt at measuring lol.

Think I got kine from SRR it was just Google M7 wheel bolts. You might get some nicer ones than them anyway.

I only got new as some of mine were a bit minging, they should be steel so replated not anodised.

But there shouldn't be any issue with re using them

Stumbled across these. Not sure where they are based.
