Seeing as I’m rather jet lagged having only arrived in Tokyo on Friday night, thought I may as well post some pics from the auto salon. Also means I can delete them from my phone once they’re stored here. Please note I’m not Nik Da Greek hence not a photographer and I don’t have a way with words. Also it is incredibly difficult to take any pics especially if the stand has models on them due to the sheer number of horny men clamouring to take pics. I imagine the Friday would have been a touch quieter than today (saturday).
Firstly to give you an idea of the scale and numbers and scale. Four large halls (technically 11 but some are combined), each packed. I never realised that in Japan this is an actual family day out; plenty of wives and kids in attendance, unlike the sausage fests that the UK tends to serve up. Also the models are none too shabby, again in contrast to some of the non-biodegradeable plastic women we get treated to.
Next, onto the RX7s and rotary stuff. RE-A had a pretty large stand at the event with a few FDs including an NA 20B, a 13B powered Westfield and some merchandise for sale.
Other than RE-A, it was only really RS Pantera looking to have an FD demo car (well two) including their own NA 20B and a 13B-RE twin single turbo.
Someone should probably tell Daiwa Racing Labs that if they want to show off their range of radiators, it might not be a bad idea to keep the bonnet up on their RX7
Fairy sure the rest of these photos cover every FD/FC at the event (apart from an FC convertible which I deleted by mistake). Not quite sure what the dark green FD is all about TBH. The paintwork was awful and the interior was...well I’ll let you insert your own expletive.
What’s left below is a random assortment of other pics I took. I’ve left a fair chunk out as there seemed to be a fair amount of repetition in terms cars. A lot of GT86s, R35 GTRs and other stuff that became quite tedious to look at after a while.
I’d definitely recommend visiting the TAS for 2020 and I’ll probably make the trip again myself. It’s easy enough to get to once you’re in Tokyo and pretty much kicks the shit out of any shows I’ve ever been to in the UK. Organisation was on a par with the Tokyo motorshow which I went to in October 2017. Will probably spend my next few days visiting a few of the RX7 garages and see what goodies I can buy that’ll fit in my suitcase.
If anyone else made the trip and has any pics to share, feel free to stick them in below
