Hi all

This post is mostly aimed at the Google searchers of the future, because I had a bit of trouble finding the throttle body elbow oring seal, until I asked in the rx7 whatsapp.

I recently had the issue of trying to locate the elbow sealing ring that goes flat and splits. Proper ones are wayy too expensive when shipped to be spending on an oring. So a few people suggested buying oring cord and make one. Went well and tested, works flawlessly. It was rather hard to find metric specs online for the ring so I wanted to document them here.

Throttle body elbow oring seal specs:
2.5mm diameter
365mm long
Even though I have measured mine at 365mm it's much easier to lay your old one out and cut it - just watch you're not stretching either one when holding them steady, like I did the first time I cut a legnth. Oops. And cut straight or the join will be kinked.
If you want to be fancy, you can buy vitron super-duper resistant stuff. Otherwise get some oil resistant nitrile. I thought I bought vitron, but ended up with nitrile because I cant read apparently.
Superglue or rubber glue the ends together. It's just to hold it in a circle for install really, I even ran my old one not stuck together at all.
Silicone grease or petroleum grease on the oring might help it not dry out, and helps it stick in the groove when installing.
