Hi All

Its that time of year again to start sorting out this years ring trip. @Countzero (Alan) has started looking at accommodation

The dates we are looking at are from the 30th April to 4th May, the ring is open on the 1st-2nd & 3rd all day

Anyone else on here going at the same time ?

We are going month end, 27th may to Jun 2nd. Open every single day and 3 days open all day. Where do you guys normally stay, we tend to do linder park, but this year are staying else where due to prices.

We have stayed in a few places but are currently looking at the DF Am Ring Hotel Nurburg formerly known as the Burgstube.

2 Mins from the ring main entrance, stayed there a couple of times but it has changed name and ownership since, some nice restaurants in the town
all within walking distance and good off road parking.

What ever you do, don't stay in centre parks close by, Honestly thought I was satying in Auschwitz, awful. This year we are a few miles away staying in some modern mobile homes as we were offered very good rates and our own area (there's usually 20 plus) so it's good to be away from the locals as I would not like to upset them.

Accommodation booked @ just over £40 a night B&B

Train booked @ £137 return

Let the spending begin.

Train? As in euro tunnel? Just realised, is this Alan I met there last year? I have the widebody black one.

Looks like we will have to forget this year and book again for next year , on the plus side we are all well as are our family.

Ye we are booked on, I have till the 27th of this month to cancel, going to wait it out but doubt i'll be in the rex now.

Booked for july with a few friends, going to wait it out a bit longer but not looking good. Cant get to the trackcar to fix/prep it anyways at the moment lol

After a lot of yes we will go to no we wont go this year, the yes vote won and we are off on the 10th Sept.

Current restrictions say we can go as long as we drive through France without stopping, looking at travelling distances
if I fill her up to the brim I could make Germany with a fair wind behind me so all should be good.

Anyone on here going the same time ??

We had 7 cars and 9 people going, the numbers have been dwindling every month due to various reasons which I fully understand
and we now have 3 cars and 5 of us going. My 7 and two MX5 Turbo's.

Really looking forward to the trip it will be good to spend time with mates and the cars.

Looking at the Nürburgring web cams it is very busy out there so laps may be limited but the craic with still be great.

We go tomorrow morning so will have Friday to do some sight seeing, with track time Friday evening, all day Sat and Sunday.

Fingers crossed for another trouble free trip.

I'm jealous. I promise I'll be along next year. Covid has made it difficult for many and well, I blew my engine so can't join you this time.

Well the car made it from France to Germany 255 miles before I filled her up and was still showing over a quarter
Of a tank, I was expecting a lot less mpg and she probably would of clocked up near 300 on a tank. Happy days

We have been out doing a bit of sight seeing today as the ring was not open until 5.15pm, with all the covid rules in
Place they won't let anyone near the entrances to the ring and closed the car parks by the entrance making it one way
In and out which took an age to get on and just as long to get off, but we still managed some laps and had a great meal
This evening with a few beers thrown in,.

Roll on tomorrow, some of the super cars turned up today but the 7 still gets quite a bit of attention for an old girl.

Fuck me its busy today, seen a few cars that have used the barriers to stop, a lovely looking M2 caved in at the front
End which ripped the Barriers off, will be surprised if that sees the road again.

A couple of pics

Nearly as many food pics as car pics :D. Looks good! I need to do this again at some point.

Got back yesterday from Mondays trackday. Challenging track conditions. Different weather at each parts of the track and corners could change from one lap to the next. Some big surprises, but still fun. Racked up around 250miles on track despite it being closed for an hour due to a dumb Audi TT driver crashing and driving on. Spilt oil from Brunnchen to the little karussell on a wet track which kind of ruined any chance of driving that section hard. Recovery is free as well!

Turn the sound down if easily offended ;-)
@4:00, 7:00 & 9:16. Last one trying to catch that 485S Caterham driven by Dale Lomas (Bridge to Gantry).
