Hi all,

Need a bit of help, put the car away 6-7 years ago to refresh the suspension. Unfortunately life got in the way, and it's not complete, only 1 corner done lol. Anyway, i need to move the car out to move some other vehicles out and in the unit, but the car has not been started since at least 2017. What is best to do, car was running well, just needed remapping, map was crap not progressive enough, don't think the guy who did it really knew what he was doing, but it ran fine up to redline. All suspension and brakes are now back on. I just need it out the way for a few hours to get the other vehicles moved around.
I'm guessing adding oil to the housings and turning over by hand a few times before firing it up. But where and what oil will be best, all was good and i never intended it to stand this long or i would have heavily oiled it up before leaving it.
Also battery is probably shot, so what is the go to battery now?

Thanks in advance all

Exactly that, I leave mine for years at a time and this is all I do every time I need to start it.

Many views on this but.. change oil and filter (10W 40 was always recommended), drain fuel and add new, remove the GREEN fuel relay right hand side under bonnet and turn it over 10 seconds approx 3 times, with breaks, may save your bearings and all of your initial insights. You really need to replace the plugs etc but, I'm OCD so crack on and wish you had done it before. lol remove the battery and charge, how does it hold up, if at all after 7 years. Buy a new one at approx £50 and save all the hassle of flooding and malaraky..... Don't skimp as hindsight is a wonderful thing.....

Thanks, is it best to add atf or oil to the housings? Through the lim or spark plug hole?
Battery is toast (pc950), not holding any charge, looking at Lithiun ion battery, maybe as replacement. Can't even get it out of the holder.

I go through the plug hole, I have a little syringe and some tubing specially for the job. BRAAAP also has good advice on priming the oil system, starting without doing this is a good way to kill turbos.

Thanks Jack, how much oil? I have syringes and tubing, all sizes from 0.5 to 100ml and 1.3mm to 18mm

I just squirt a little in, I don't really measure it. No more than 1-5ml I'd say.

Well I finally got round to trying to start the car. I had to reconnet a few things, fuel pump lol, but 3rd crank and she fired up fine. Smokes like a sailor, as expected
My daughter boyfriend has been stopping with us the last few weeks, he's Australian, and what i did not know is that he's a mechanic that works on rotary engines. So I'm going to ask him to sort the car out a bit. He has some ideas on modifications i should do.

Well after getting a bit of work done the weekend, i have found the car was previously damaged in the left rear quater. The quater has been replaced but it is out of position so the bumper and lights won't fit correctly. The only option appears to be to cut this off and refit it correctly. This was all hidden by the body kit, that is now binned.
Time to start a uild thread.

Can it be 'massaged' out? I had something similar, took the fuel tank out and got a hydraulic ram to push it back out to the right position

Unfortunately not, the replacemnet is welded in too low and it also needs to be pulled in only 4-5mm each direction. The back panel will come good, if not I have access to one, but the lamp bracket/housing will most likely be destroyed removing it, as thats fitted out of position also.

Royally Fkd up yesterday, I connected the jumper battery terminals the wrong way round, never done something so stupid, it's a different battery to what I normally would use and terminals are the other way round. It's blown a bunch of fuses, the 120amp main (which I've just ordered a spare for as I don't have one) and a few others so Ihave zero power to the car.
How much damage have i done!!

After a bum clenching few days, the main fuse has turned up and car still fires up.
Decided to fit a new battery, so i don't do it again.

Going to try this noco nlp20 - it is soooo small and light. Just hoping it has the power to crank the car over quick enough.
