Show me your phone holder solutions

Bit of a bump for this one. I'm sick of having my phone flying around and i'm not a fan of these holders that 'stick' on or have to be jammed into your vents. Also i've fallen in love with the android auto app

I previously used one of these:

the problem was if I was driving like a dick the weight of the phone would have the mount and the phone flying!

I've decided to give the 'Brodit' solution a go, it looks to be solid and can be removed with out damaging anything! It basically works in two parts.

1. A mount for your car
2. A phone holder for your type of phone that screws into it.

The phone holder part hasn't come yet but the RX7 mount has. I've just installed it and for what I initially thought was a very expensive slab of plastic, the fit is bloody good. It seems solid as a rock, I'll get a picture of it with the phone mount fully installed when it comes but for now this is how it sits.

Ah cool with you now, will see if they do one for the iPhone X yet, struggled getting anything just for that

That looks cool, might get one of them myself, wonder if those holders will hold the phone if it has a case on?

EDIT just watched that vid defo getting one

Shameless plug for 'I've got an iphone X'

Great minds and all that Matt!! This arrived on Saturday and quickly got it fitted. I've used Brodit stuff in various cars over the years. The brackets are great but the phone holders themselves are quite bulky (very well made though) It just makes it all a little unsightly when no phone is in them. So I started to use the brackets, but then putting a magnetic holder on top. Makes it a whole lot easier on the eye and very quick just to mount your phone. Good if you have multiple phones too as there is no concern about getting a matching holder. And what are the holders now? £30+ quid!! So with the mount that's a £50 solution that could be out of date when you next change your phone.

Great idea that mate.
I looked yesterday at these mounts and holders, found the bracket for £15, then went to add the holder ,which was £75!!!!! I laughed and closed the page.

May go back to get the bracket and add a magnet, I want it to hold my phone for a Speedo primarily.

Yeah it works well. Obviously you need a strip of metal on the back of your phone, but a lot of these magnetic kits come with a few of these thin metal strips you can stick to the back of your phone. I bought a plastic, carbon look case for my iPhone 7 that has a strip of metal built in. Really decent case, good quality and slim. Not expensive either:

Good thinking there Mark but I can't use the magnet as I use NFC daily (opens doors at work). I've ordered an adjustable mount and a pixel mount, i'll see which is the best fit.

For anyone who wants just the RX7 mount I got it from here and it came to less than £20 posted. The website looks awful but it came quickly with no issues. If someone had a 3D printer this would be the thing to make!

Amazon has some of the mounts as does ebay, takes some digging to find them though!
