I'm thinking about stripping out the rear of my fd doing something like this that extends into the boot tmand making a hatch for the fuel pump cover where do you think would be the best place to take it? Or should I try and mock it up with cardboard first then just have a go with some aluminium I've never done metal work before

Have a go yourself! It's all straight lines! Would probably cost you 50 quid max for sheeting to do that! As you say. Mock it with card then grind the shit out of it! I reckon a few weekends on it and it'd look pretty sweet! People would charge you silly money for that and most likely be kind enough to scratch your car for you and say whoops your problem mate!

Think I might give it ago then I'd buy the kit form the U.S. but it's not worth it after customs

Personally I think if you strip the rear then clean it up and paint it and / or add a cage

But Defo have a crack yourself with some sheet metal if that’s the way you go, can’t be to hard to do man ???

Looks quite doable. It will no doubt take longer than you'd expect but some time, measuring, rivnuts and you'll be sorted. The main issues might be getting a nice finish on it.

Getting the folds right will be a pain, as will getting a decent edge finish without a bandsaw. Grinders spall the crap out of aluminium, though you can use edging strip to neaten it up.

I'd say just strip it, clean it, maybe paint it.

That LRB thing is a monstrosity .

If going for the stripped look I'd agree with the above, strip it and paint it and it'll look great.

Nah mate, look at all them exposed wires! o_O If it was mine I'd upholster it all so looks factory(ish)

I like the LRB setup. Imagine it beyond it’s raw aluminium form, powder coated or anodised to match your interior, I think it’s pretty cool

Without a guillotine and sheet bending machine it will probably look back garden quality having spent years working with metal.
