Just wondering what the norm is at idle and high revs. Mine seems fine at high revs but disturbingly low at idle but it hasn't blown up so it cant be that bad haha. Engine is sweet enough though and supposedly rebuilt around 4000 miles ago but have no proof.

My stock gauge usually read zero at idle lol and goes up to about 4 on boost I think

You should be seeing 30psi + at idle with oil upto temp, 50-60 min at 3000 RPM. Hope that helps you may have a faulty gauge if its stock one or try cleaning the connector on the sender unit its just below the oil filter

Yeah im just going off the stock gauge, it goes to nothing at idle and about 2-2.5kgf-cm2.

Now i know where the sender is ill tap in there and do the test as described.

Thanks guys

2-2.5kgf-cm2 equates to about 30-35psi mine sometimes shows 0 at idle then will flick to where it should be but always sits correctly when driving im just going to tap a new sender and a aftermarket gauge in when ive got some spare time just to keep an eye on things

Yeah definitely, ill be doing the same.

While we're on the subject of oil, has anyone or is anyone used/using 20/50 mineral racing oil or is it too thick for these engines? i was going to try it to see if it made a difference because at the moment im runing 10/40 semi synthetic.

I use 15/40 mineral as that is what pip recommended id do abit of research into which oil is best used for which application and which climate etc

My oil pressure on my Défi gauge reads about 180-220 kPa at idle which is 26-32 PSI. New oil is about 220 and old oil starts to drop and when I notice it around 180 or less I change it.

Max pressure is somewhere around 700 kPa although I need to check again. That is 101 PSI.

Mine sits around 50psi at idle when warm, pegs the gauge at over 100psi when revving.

Think I’ve got 5w-40 in there at the moment. I know the top weight is 40, though.

Same problem and same planned solution

Always had the same thing with mine, its done 8000 since rebuild and running really sweet, stock oil gauge reads pretty much 0 on idle as well. As soon as you pick the revs up it goes up as it should. Got an aftermarket greddy gauge in now, just need to sort the sender on it. As long as the red light on the gauge doesnt come on i wouldnt worry too much.

I worry that the light wont work either, the rest of these clusters seem temperamental i wpuld be shocked if that light worked 100% of the time
