My haggard FD

Is that the exhaust you were fabbing on the drive a few weekends ago? What's the purple thing all about? It looks like it's attached to the brake master!

Yeah, the 3” flange just wasn’t working and the bottom c-band was a touch out. Flexi should help everything line up and stay there.

Purple thing is a Super Now brake stopper, braces the cylinder to the turret to stop firewall flex. Genuinely makes a massive difference!

This is the sixth time we have rebuilt this oil feed and we have become exceedingly mediocre at it:

Sparkly rebuilt alternator, also gave the bracket and adjustment bolt a spruce. In retrospect I should have just ground off the old power steering bolt. Also did some pinch weld maintenace, grinding back some surface rust and re-undercoating.

Did a profeshunal gauge install

Also pressure tested fuel system, tested new starter motor. Just need to fill with coolant and then can go for mapping round three...

I’ve been plagued by an exhaust leak on the v-band from turbo to downpipe. I’ve tried everything from welding a new flange to the downpipe to making a copper gasket for it. Today I had a go at draw filing the flange.

Lots of high spots:

Getting there:

And after an hour or so of several passes it only made a tiny difference. Still leaking. I guess I’ll just put up with it.

Are you sure it isn't the clamp. I read that once you have tightened them they are bent outward making them a bit loose

This is clamp number three, but yeah I have tightened and retightened it a few times. The exhaust is solid though, it won’t twist or move okce the clamp is tight.

One day if I can be bothered I’ll remove the whole lot and get both mating surfaces on a bench sander.

Aaaaaaargh!

AAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHH!

Total fucking bastard shit bitch lasagne. Removed the old fuel filter and just looped the feed line to bypass, new high flow fuel filter will be going here:

This one is two stroke friendly and serviceable, the paper ones apparently can swell with the oil and not filter so well.

Yeah, you can screw the end cap off to pop out the filter element then just give it a rinse and wipe with petrol. Shouldn’t ever need to replace the element.
