Good old PM's if there are multiple people really close it will just show a clumped number to save people knowing the exact location. I have the same in wrexham

I can't see anyone in Reading at all, which seems a bit odd. As you say, I would expect to be part of a bigger clump.

I've found the issue but not sure I have a solution .

It tries to locate you based on your IP address. If I look up your IP address it seems to think your located in slough! This is basically down to your internet providers networking. If you can find yourself on the map (in slough lol) you can drag the marker to your correct location. Other people may have this issue and make it hard for you to find yourself. I'll see if I can come up with something to sort/exclude these results.

I can't imagine many people use this feature (it's more interesting to see who else is about more than anything) but to tidy up the map, would it be worth using the postcode areas (https://www.doogal.co.uk/UKPostcodes.php) and a single pin for each area to maybe look a little something like this:

I have no idea how it works for anywhere outside of the UK though.

Removes (even further) the whole "this is exactly where I live" thing and again, makes the map a little tidier.

Of course, I have no idea about the complexity of implementing something like this; my programming knowledge is pretty limited to C# on Xamarin...

Do you have to add yourself to this Matt as i couldn't see me. Just thinking is this because my location is down as the actual county instead of the town?

I initially did this back on the old fduk days as i think there was only 6 others in the whole of north east so was never a problem. Shows how popular they have got in the years gone by

I think he said before that it works by using the IP address on whatever device you're using at the time, which i guess is why its not always 100% accurate.

Would it work better if it was just set it up to show you're location using the address on your profile details?

You will be there if you haven't opted out by mistake. Under privacy make sure you haven't hit Opt out of the Member Map

Map updated to cluster users and show more detail when you zoom in. I've also removed the update by IP setting as everyone is moving around these days. If you can find your pin you can now drag it to any location.

I'll also try and make it easier to see your own pins in the future.
