Well done everyone, I've just had JDM Combe confirm that FDOC have 29** cars booked šŸ‘‹

JDM Combe have now closed the bookings so they can organise the sending out of tickets and stand passes. If you haven't booked yet, then sorry, you are too late ;)

If there are any more owners who would like to put their car forward for a FREE parade lap at 12.45pm on the day, and haven't already done so, please post up a few recent(ish) pics of your car. We will try to meet as many requests as possible within the 68 car limit imposed by JDM Combe. If we can't meet all FDOC requests, Matt will make the final decision!

Again, if you have booked a track session, then to allow as many cars out on circuit as possible during the day, those cars will not be permitted on the parade lap.

We have ~140 rotaries booked for the event, including some real rarities :)

All we need is some good weather and this will be an awesome day!

**Sorry, I though it was 30 from a spreadsheet, then noticed I'd included the s/sheet header row 🤪

Oooh, a yellow FD :p

The RX-8 OC have just had confirmation of the stand area allocation for the RX-8 OC, FDOC, MRC and Familia rotary clubs (140 rotary cars in total). We have a prime location in the main paddock with all the stands adjacent, straddling the main walk/roads. The RX-8 OC is now sorting out the best places to allocate to each club, given the shapes/sizes of the areas we've been granted, together with the number of cars per club.

As part of the joint rotary stand display, there will be a "timeline" of 12 rotary models, chosen to represent the development of the Mazda rotary:
  • Cosmo 110s
  • RX-3
  • RX-4
  • RX-7 FB Series 3
  • RX-7 FB Elford Turbo
  • RX-7 FC Turbo II
  • Eunos Cosmo 13B
  • RX-7 FD
  • RX-8 S1
  • RX-8 S1 PZ
  • RX-8 S1 40th Anniversary
  • RX-8 S2 R3
We had hoped to get a (very rare) R100, but the owner has a sailing event clash. Mazda UK even tried to get the replica 787B "car 55" over from France, but it didn't work out.

Booked my ticket yesterday.

Will there be a convoy or anyone interested driving down together from Birmingham/ West Midlands area?

Is it only stock models allowed to be in the rotary timeline?
Hi Luke, yep, we have chosen cars that are as close to OEM as possible. They'll be plenty of contrast on the 4 club stand: RX-8 OC, FDOC, MRC and Familia :)

Everyone's stand passes should start arriving soon. Got mine today. I have attached a pic of what I received. Stand numbers for FDOC will be G3-G5. I've also added a map of the stand layout, where we are located in the paddock. The Rotary clubs are all co-located as follows.

E1-10, F23 and G2: RX-8 OC

F24-25: MRC

F26: RX-8 Familia (Facebook group)

G3-G5: FDOC

So all stands straddle one of the main thoroughfares in the paddock, near the Strawford Centre.

Don't think we could be located much better than that!

Final number of cars looks like ~135

Are there any requirements on the day for the parade lap? e.g. helmet.

The Chairman of the RX-8 Owners Club has asked me to post this:

The Club, and myself, owe everyone an apology for an email sent yesterday to attendees of the 55th Anniversary JDM Combe event.
It was sent with relevant information for the arrangements of the club stands, and check-in details for the venue on the day.

Unfortunately, human error crept in, and email addresses were disclosed unintentionally to all recipients from RX-8 OC, RX-8 Familia, FD:OC, MRC, and rx7fb.com.
For this, I sincerely apologise.

Rest assured, we are now reviewing and strengthening our club procedures to ensure there will not be a repetition. The data consisted of only email addresses, and this data will be removed.

Despite this one rather embarrassing lapse of vigilance amongst the many things involved with organising this event, we still have what will be a truly epic day out. The parade lap alone will be a Rotary paradise!
The weather looks very promising, and with any luck, I'll catch up and meet with plenty of you on the day.

Please don't hesitate to get in touch if there's anything more we can help with.

Chairman, RX-8 Owners Club UK

Hey man just checking you got my PM yesterday bud? Cheers šŸ‘šŸ‘Œ

As we get closer to the day, should anyone feel they want to take their car out on track in one or both of two ROTARY EXCLUSIVE 15 minute sessions at the discounted price of £25 per session, can they please let me know and I'll advise how to book.

The sessions are at 10.45 and 16.15.

For those of you not familiar with the circuit at Castle Combe, it is one of the fastest in the UK, with a lovely fast section from Camp Corner through to Avon Rise, with just a fast (should be flat out) kink along the way. Apart from the slight incline up the Avon Rise the track has no elevation, being an old WW2 airfield originally. Avon Rise leads into Quarry, the combination of which is very "challenging" when braking from well over 100mph (even in an RX-8), then it's a series of chicanes and interesting corners. Plenty of stuff to watch on youtube if anyone unfamiliar and tempted. I have driven it multiple times in my RX-8 and love it!

It's a 90dB static noise limit and normal trackday rules, so helmet and overtaking on right by consent - full, compulsory safety briefing on the day. You can go flat out, or stay way within car/driver limits and have great fun either way, with mainly RX-8's out on the track with you. Bonus, the weather forecast predicts a lovely warm, dry and grippy track :)

Anyone want to meet in the morning so we can all roll in together?

We need to be in for 730-750 so could meet just off the m4 at 720, aim to roll out at 725.

I could setup a whatapps group if people want to PM their numbers?

Good News guys!

We had allocated a large number of parade spaces to another club on the basis they said they were bringing 60 cars. Turns out they are only bringing 15, so can't use all their allocation. So EVERYONE the FD:OC list, including the reserves, can go out on the parade lap at 12.45pm, a total of 15 places :)

We've got 137 cars on the combined rotary stands !
