We are about to purchase an RX7 FD3 and are looking for an insurer for our 22 year old son with limited 3,000 miles per annum insurance as this is his 3rd car not his daily car... Does anyone have any recommendations as well as AIB?

Many thanks

Maria

Unfortunately you just need deep pockets :(

If its a fairly standard car then shouldn't be a problem with most normal insurers (Admiral, LV and the like) and not cost too much.
Heavily modified and you might as well forget it until he's 25.
Another specialist to try is need to insure
Unfortunately a lot of the good specialist insurers won't touch you until 25.

I feel your pain I bought mine at 18.

There's a few young drivers on here so I'm sure they can tell you who's best.

Have you gotten any quotes?

One quote from his Classic MK1 Mini insurer of £1,800!

Thanks for coming back, will try those ones

Anyone with more suggestions truly welcomed

To be honest £1800 isn't too bad at 22, I guess I paid around the 1500 mark at that age 5 years ago, 27 now

Latest we've got down to is £778 with £200 compulsory excess and £150 voluntary with "Elephant" Insurance! Yet to try AIB in morning

I'm 23 and have just gone with Brentacre, £1150 with all mods declared; 500~bhp single turbo with everything to go with plus roll cage, full bodykit, wheels, big brake kit etc. Closest after that was Fluxdirect at £1200.

Was nice to speak to someone who actually understood the car for once rather than trying to explain to someone who hasn't got a clue!

Adrian flux are definitely worth a try, they were half the price of any insurer I could find when I insured my car back in march.

For his age I'd say that is a great quote, if AIB can better it I'd bite their arm off 👍

AIB wouldn't even consider someone under 25 years old, so went with the quote received from Admiral at ONLY £760 for a 22 year old!

Thanks to everyone for all your help and suggestions

This is a wicked site!
