Cutting out at idle.

Hi guys, I've come over from fduk and now looking at getting my third rx7.

I took an FD out on a test drive last week and after a hard run it was cutting out at idle and when I was in reverse and parking it. It's had an engine rebuild early this year and been properly run in by rotary revs with an aggressive Street port and on a single turbo conversion. All the necessary upgrades have been done to support this (though it seems) and just wondering what could be the cause? Is it worth walking away or could it be something minor.
Thanks in advance.

Can't idle! Me personally would walk, and i did when i was first looking at an fd many years ago with a very similar story.

It just didnt idle good very splurted in between park and moving it about on drive, I know a heavy Street port is not great at idle just didn't think it was that bad.

Worth checking for vacuum leaks. Might not have been put back in properly or some hoses got damaged etc

Unless it's a bargain i personally don't want to be starting to fault find on day one.

Depends on the value of the car and over all condition I think.
There are always issues with the rotary.... But if you have a good condition car for a good value it might be worth a shot still.

I can't agree, a good car shouldn't have any issues. Rotary, piston, petrol or diesel a combustion engine is just that. If its cheap buy it, if not walk away. My fd in various states of tune has always had a solid idle and ran fine. Just "because rotary" shouldn't make you assume is always gonna be a bag of shite.

Nice to see you finally made it over here christian. bit quiet on FDUK ay?

Knock him a grand off the price then buy it. if not, 750 then if not walk away tell him to sell it to another mug or get it fixed and you'll pay

Cheers for the input guys, excited to get back into the rx scene it's been awhile. My thoughts exactly Joe! I've got a price in mind so I'll offer him that or just walk away. Could be something simple who's knows but looking at another one tomorrow.
