Copyninja Street FD - GT3 Build

Looks perfect mate, nice one.

Which tablet do you have for the Link G4?

Thanks mate, I went for this tablet off ebay...had great reviews and cheap enough for it to be a no brainer with a decent 10" full hd screen and it has wifi and bluetooth which is perfect for me.

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-...0001&campid=5338477309&icep_item=362920887332

I was also considering the fusion 5 listed below but the one above was virtually half price with similar specs.

No I haven't done any drag racing. There is hardly anything in it till 120 that's when the f80 really gets going and leaves me behind lol It's mostly the setup really. I think more boost would help I only run 17 psi at the moment.

Yeh Me and @rob fd went out for a drive he's got a stage 1 f80, he wasn't able to social distance me on a b road.

Posted on here as didnt want to spam the other thread.
I mean like dragy as in this https://dragymotorsports.co.uk/ - we can make a rx7 performance leaderboard and compare against newer more modern machines!
Last time I did some pulls with my brothers f10 m5 stock...it took him 110mph to reel me in and then It was a slaughter house!
Nice to know you didn't get social distanced! haha!

Got the RX7 back from Tim post rebuild!

Its got 500 miles of run in to be completed before i can get it mapped and get on the boost. Then I can post up some dragy gps times like 60-130mph, 100-200kph

Need a smaller 330mm steering wheel and looking to revert back to my oem seats instead of the buckets.

Always interesting to see how the oem montego blue flips in the sun! Cant believe this is an oem colour!

The entire car needs a full deep clean and detail. A full ceramic coat and machine polish colour correction to clean it up a bit more.

Hi mate, your tablet set up.

Have you literally got the USB cable going straight from ECU into tablet ? Does the tablet charge at the same time as being used in car or do you need to take it out and charge it? Also can you customise the data and windows shown on the display ?

No it doesn't charge when connected via ecu when connected via usb cable. I am looking at a more permanent Bluetooth/wireless solution as i want to minimise the cables. Yes data is customised via different layouts.

Done 250miles on the car and all seems to be going well so far.

New tablet gives the old skoool cabin a taste of modern tech. It also connects via Bluetooth to the cars audio system....so on long drives the passenger can enjoy Netflix, YouTube etc...its very versatile.

Went out to put some more miles on the new engine by Llangorse Lakes in South Wales. It was a wonderful day. For once wifey sauce did not complain about the rx7 hah!

I've completed the run in mileage and now patiently waiting for 1st engine check up with Tim and for @Stu Rotortorque to book me in for a dyno mapping session.

Gave the RX7 a full clean today ready for a drive tomorrow with one of my mates who got his 1000bhp GTR back from jurgen at JM Imports. There will be some current age modern machines also joining us.

As my RX7 is only on a basemap guess its safe to say I'll be at the back of this pack

Made a small tweak to the bay by getting rid of the silver tin foil turbo intake pipe with some proper ducting. May even swap that out to a custom ally intake.

In the meantime I bought another E92 M3 as i cant use boost yet on the RX7. Made a rookie error and sold my previous E92 M3 too early!

Doubt my RX7 will be will be able to live with this 1000bhp GTR. Its clocked an impressive dragy gps time of 100-200kph in 3.96s so im interested to see where my RX7 stacks up.

Stock Mclaren 720s does a 100-200khp in 4.7s
Stock GT2 RS does a 100-200khp in 5.5s
My E92 M3 Stage 2 does a 100-200kph in 9.6s so im hoping my rx7 is faster than this at the very least

What do you guys think, what time will my RX7 do? has anyone here done a 100-200 khp to see how fast their rx7 actually accelerates for its given bhp?

What kinda power level would you need in a rotary to have a chance?

I’ll be timing my FD soon, just need to get the map changed a little bit now I’ve made a few changes.

I’m at 600hp at the flywheel but I think we will do 650hp next session with any luck.

I’d be pleased with a mid 5 second 100kph - 200kph, I think the challenge will be the gear change as the modern DCT/flappy paddle box of the R35 will be stupid fast compared to a manual change. You’d expect though that the R35 has some transmission losses to factor in.

Based on a basic power to weight calculator your mates R35 should have around 100hp per ton on mine at 600hp.

RX7 - 600hp / 1280kg - 470hp per ton
R35 1000hp / 1740kg - 570hp per ton

I work out a stock 720s to be around 500hp per ton so I’d hope a mid 5 will be doable.

Whats your FD at power wise currently ?

Awesome would be great to see how your 600hp performs a 100-200kph and then how the 650bhp performs. It would be a great indicator for u to see if those tweaks actually make a difference to acceleration on the dragy gps? if yes keep the changes if no revert to 600bhp for less strain on all components. Pointless having more hp if it doesn't make u faster haha! We have the tools now to benchmark and compare accurate verified dragy gps data.

A mid 5 would be awesome but i think something us rx7 owners need to consider is
1. We have a manual gearbox so id assume we would loose 0.5s? on the gearshift? would u agree or at least some amount of time lost....where as the dct cars will upshift seemlessly and relentlessly resulting in a faster time.
2. 100 to 200kph is approx 62-124mph so would that be 3 upshifts in the rx7? or would 4th gear in the rx7 hit 124mph on the dragy gps?

I have no idea what power mine will make, Tim advised 450rwhp. Hopefully @Stu Rotortorque and jaydee will let me know once mapped.

Mine weighs in at 1230 kgs last time i weighed it but no idea on power level just yet so cant comment on power to weight ratio yet. I have to overhaul and restore the underside of my car post mapping...then look into an 18" wheel tyre setup...so im not certain how that will effect my dragy gps times but rest assured i'll do a before and after dragy gps time.

Yes I’d say you’re probably right with 3 gear changes. I’ll let you know when I have recorded some times.

I recorded mine. 9 seconds for 60-120 from 3rd gear to 4th gear. 450bhp

Thats very interesting, have u got the dragy screenshot you can post?...my e92 m3 runs a 9.6s on the dragy gps for 100-200kph which is approx 62mph -124mph.

I hope its not 3 changes as we will loose more time but I guess there's only one way to find out.

Im on a 4.44 final drive so im not certain if 4th gear in mine will hit 124mph...it might do on yours if you are on 4.1 or 3.9 final drive?

First check up done by Tim today and everything went well.

Slight hick up with installing the oil temp, pressure and fuel pressure sensors. The dual oil sandwich plate i bought was leaking from the 2nd O-ring. Does anyone know which dual oil sandwich plate is good for our cars please?

I was tweaking the layouts on the Link ECU.
Ended up with a couple layouts.

All Run in, patiently waiting for mapping session.

Saw this episode on youtube so thought id share on here.

It would seem time has not been very kind to the RX7s 0-60mph performance. I dont like to talk about 0-60mph much as so many variables that can get a good vs bad time.

As the data suggests even a 500+bhp RX7 has to shift to 3rd to hit 60mph on the dragy gps and it looks like newer bmws in the wet can sprint to 60mph faster.

Would have been interesing to see what 60mph-100mph and 100-200kph times this 500+bhp RX7 was putting down. All in all was a fun episode to watch.

I had a Sakebomb one on my old UK car, that was a nicely designed piece of kit, sat nice and low unlike most as it replaced the pedestal.

Personally I think 0-60 times are pointless in the real world and no disrespect to the owner but his driving/launches were pretty poor. With a proper launch you’d get that below 5 seconds for sure.
