Hi,

i'm Markus from Bavaria and drive/build a Time Attack FD.

Despite a lot of research, I cannot find a satisfactory answer, so I dare to ask here. 😁

I mounted the HKS exhaust Manifold and put a Borg Warner Airwerk S200 with a 1.09ar exhaust Housing on it.
To make it fit, i had to use an Angle Adapter plate.
Because the exhaust Housing is touching the Chassis.

After grinding some Material off the Housing, the clearance between Chassis and Housing is now 8.5 mm.

My question, is that enough?
In special cases of heavy Load or Clutch kick?

If necessary, some Photos can be uploaded.

Many thanks for Help.

Regards
Markus

What engine mounts are you running?

Might be an idea to solid mount her with aluminium "pucks"

Currently standard Mazda mounts.
The car is not a hard core time attack build and also street driven.
AC is still pretty functional. šŸ˜ŽšŸ˜„
If possible, i prefer the standard mounts.

I may be wrong. But you might want to reimagine the mounting anyway when going single. I've heard from one tuner that downpipes like to melt stock mounts?

Good point, i don't think thats an issue.
The Downpipe will be covered with heatshield and clearance looks very good.

yeah this turbo is too big for the manifold really.

Its goin to be a case of suck it and see as it all depends how much engine movement your mounts give. An engine damper will help.

Try Ice Hockey pucks, they have a bit of give but have a much higher shore hardness to the stock mounts. You will need a steel mount too to replace the aluminium one. Its usually one steel, one aluminium.

I have replaced engine mounts (the actual rubber bits, not the steel arms) by unbolting them top and bottom then jacking the engine up by the gearbox. Its tight but doable.

Hi Markus I make a specific S200sx manifold for the Fd Rx7 Which will give you all the space in the world if you continue to have issues with fitment. its also available as a kit but you do have a few parts already.

Cheers Steve
