What is a good brake upgrade kit for the fd? What have people used/using? AP brembo etc.

Realistically you'd probably be ok with something like DS2500s and a full refurb of the calipers. The stock brakes are pretty damn good! I suspect if most people were honest with themselves they'd realise that probably 'upgraded' for cosmetic reasons...

Totally agree with Si , the oem 4 pots are excellent but usually need a good refurb which transforms them. I went with stoptech discs, lines, pads the lot with good quality fluid.

Well it should certainly save a few pennies over an AP kit. I have no real complaints about the brakes to be fair I just assumed they would fade badly on track. Any recommendations for somewhere to have the calipers refurbed?

My option of choice was 'kitchen', but 'garage' may well prove more popular with othet family members.
It really is piss easy, and not something I'd pay someone to do.

Fair play I'll have a crack myself then. Next question lol. Best place to get a rebuild kit?

Rears are a bit of a faff though aren't they? not actually done them on the FD but tried on the MX5 and thought... fuck that

Rears are fine. Standard sliding caliper and unscrewing the piston affair :)

Thought there was lots of magic to make the handbrake mechanism to work?
Oh, I'm talking about changing the piston though, yeah changing the seals is easy enough.

I tried my stock brakes with decent tyres, RS4 b7 calipers and discs of eBay get them rebuilt then get dynotorque to make you kit.

The idea of saving some money in the braking department does appeal. The general consonances seems to be that stock brakes refreshed are good enough so that is the route i will probably take.
