Blyton Park Premium Track Day - 24 Aug 18

Tequilas on a school night.. naughty! 😂😂 hope @JoeLanger was hanging this morning!
How was the track day?

Haha I told Roy we weren't american enough for shots so stuck to wiskeys instead!
Right as rain mate, seasoned drinker here.

Trackday was awesome, every time you went out there was like one other car on track had it to yourself.

Someone missed his braking point and ate a cone. Melted on his exhaust...

Cheers guys. Awesome day. Great to finally get the car out on track and see how this new setup performs .

Will have to another at some point (although maybe I'll have to get some better brakes first!).

Got hit by a few more cloudbursts on the way home, but all ok.

Will review my video footage over the coming days and see if I can put anything together.

@cib24 what's the deal with the the official photography? Do we get a link emailed to us at some point?

Haha whiskey is good! What is it with the films and people just buying a shot to drink as a random one off 😂 I mean when your getting on it then fair enough

Sounds like a good day mate!

How did the fd’s Do against that lotus? Was it an evora?

I would expect the fd's were a close match, I was pretty level with the 430 evoras and the rare gte that used to come every now and again. Where I always got caught up was under braking as all of the modern cars have amazing braking by comparison. Porsche and lotus are about the best I've come across as they just don't move about at all under hard braking. Fd's can stop well but do wiggle a bit which isn't fun when your carrying your braking into the corner entry. Also modern abs, tc, esp helps immensely under braking.

That 360 cup was seriously quick, when he passed me it was pretty impressive.
Saying that the other FD's also looked good while passing me, :)the FD is a lot more capable on track than my driving skills,
I may be captain slow but I came away with a great big grin on my face it was a great day out and good to meet some other members.

That's all its about mate, having great fun using your car like it wants to be used.

It's uncanny how quickly the trackday bug gets hold.

Yes, the 360 Cup driver had some serious skills. He was just blasting by everyone all day. The Exige Cup 430 driver wasn't nearly as good as even most of us, but you still couldn't catch him due to that car's performance and it sounded awesome (although the owner is a bit of a prick).

I have a video of catching and passing the 430. I'm not entirely sure if he was on it, but think he was and looks pretty untidy and timid. The 360 and that BMW race car were in a whole different league though.

Upload it if you can. Never been to blyton before would like to see some fd action.

Various videos to come. Have quickly looked at my footage and it seems to have come out pretty well. Need to find time to do some proper editing.

Friday was an absolute blast. For a mere £199 those that attended were offered a room the night before, breakfast, lunch and free snacks and drinks all day from the Blyton Park kitchen in addition to an exclusive track day with only 12 cars.

It all started on Thursday evening at the Fox and the Hounds Country Pub and Inn for a few beers, whiskey and some general bullshitting. A few hours of sleep later and we all woke up to leave for fuel at the nearest petrol station that stocked premium fuel. I lead the way and took a wrong turn and therefore we were distracted for an extra 15-20 minutes by beautiful farm land and seeing the same series of signage twice. After fuel we met up at the track, had bacon baps and coffee/tea for breakfast and listened to what must have been the longest driver briefing ever...

We got on track just before 10am and I decided to forego swapping out the spark plugs, changing the oil or bleeding my brakes. Conditions were great and we all spent the first 1-2 hours getting used to the circuit and negotiating whose car we could be a passenger in later. Free rides were offered in the Caterham 620S and an E46 BMW race car as well.

Just as lunch arrived the heavens opened up so we all went in to the club house and had Fish and Chips and a few drinks. After the rain stopped I kindly asked Joe who brought his entire garage of tools to help me bleed my brakes as they weren't feeling so great during the morning. Lo and behold we found a few air bubbles at each corner. For the great service I offered Joe a go in my car so long as I could film him! Despite not driving a FD since 2015, Joe didn't crash and the only drama on the day was Martin17 running over a cone and a Mazda MX-5 spinning out and losing a tyre.

I got a passenger ride in everyone's car that day and took a video and recorded lap times. A little competition is always fun and I can't promise that the videos or times I captured were when each driver did their best laps, but below are the leader boards for what I did capture.

The day ended around 4pm and everyone was satisfied with the experience and value for money. Fortunately, for the past couple of months I have been talking to the owner of Magnitude Events about an exclusive Rotary track day for 15-25 cars at Blyton Park next year. I am pleased to announce that this is actually going to happen! 5th July 2019 and I will be inviting members of FD:OC and the RX8:OC to make sure we get the numbers.
