Can you share your opinions on "bedding in “ new OEM brake pads.

It’s a long time ago since my FD had new pads installed, but now I have new OEM road pads

The car is road use only.

Way back when, before all coppers were younger than me, I think the advice was to bed brakes in

There are various techniques published in the interweb for this.

Such as

Is this all out of date.

The average driver has never heard of “Bedding in “ brakes.

Surely the suppliers of OEM brake pads will now have formulated pads that don’t need “bedding in”

Do modern OEM pads need bedding in at all ??

Opinions please

The instructions in that link are pretty much the same as the instructions that cam with my pads a few months back (for my daily, not the FD).

I think you still have to bed them in but nobody bothers telling you it needs doing. I have yet to speak to anyone, that has had their pads changed at a garage, that has been told to break them in. Not good.

100% need bedding in.......... even new disks etc

The pads are designed to leave deposits on the disks, the way i was told to do it was to accelerate upto 50-60mph and gently apply the brakes slowing down to 5mph (don't fully stop), then accelerate to 50-60mph and brake more aggressively again to 5mph (don't stop) then 50-60mph and brake hard but again don't fully stop and then cruise for 5 mins to let the brakes cool and you're done.
