4th Nov, FD:OC Dyno Day with Rotor Torque

Was great to meet new faces and catch up with old. Good turn out and I was pleased with my results as never dyno'd her before. Thanks to Roy for organising and the big pastry delivery and stu for booking the Dyno.

255/40/17, Extended street port, Non sequential conversion, Twin power, 0.8bar, Stock fuelling, 329bhp. N863 DRJ

An example of what I am trying to do. The whole graph of numbers should be shifted about 350 RPM to the left but this gives you an idea.

Cars here are:

Ceylon's stock 99-spec twins car with K&N filter and TGS twin tube cat-back - 289hp / 250lb-ft. Actual boost unknown but probably slightly higher than stock.

rxt's extended street port, sequential twins at 1.0 bar, 3" exhaust, v mount, aftermarket intake - 349hp / 263lb-ft.

Looks like his cups got holes in it, wont get a pint in that, I can see why he's looking disappointed!

Nice work Roy, when you've finished fettling it should make for some interesting reading . I'm guessing my graph will move slightly further to the left than RXT's due to the diff too? I think I hit full boost on primary before 2.5k, it's interesting to compare the different twins, will be good when you've got the BNR's on there too!

My car is running stock boost and doesn't creep at all, so should be 0.75 bar (y).

Yes, I think generally everyone's chart should shift left as the Dyno was set for 3800 RPM in 4th equals 60mph, which on a 4.1 diff is actually 72 mph. Also, a lot of the graphs show the cars revving out to 8400-8500 RPM, even stock twins cars, which isn't correct.

Having said all of that it doesn't take away from what you see. The 99s on stock ports achieve full boost on the primary about 500 RPM quicker than the regular twins on an extended street port. This is expected given the ported engine will be slower to spool but as you can see will also be capable of extending the power and torque curve by about 1000 RPM on the top end.

It will be interesting to compare my car to yours in terms of spool time as I am on early twins, although compared to my old graph my spool is slightly slower, no doubt due to high AITs retarding timing too much.

Also, full boost (or perhaps more correctly peak torque on the primary) on your car seems to be about 2550 RPM when corrected.

I didn't think a pfc retarded timing tbh only the standard ecu.

Hmm...I thought it did. It has temp correction built in so when it senses high air temps it dumps fuel and pulls timing and boost (I have definitely experienced the boost cut when the car is heatsoaked). It could also explain why I only hit 0.95 bar on the run rather than 1.05 bar last year.

Did your FMIC require any cutting of the front bumper or the bumper support in order to make it fit?

No no, your probably right i just didn't think it actually pulled timing. I knew it will reduce the boost and also cut it completely.

With the fmic tbh I'm not 100% sure since kerim and Jay fit it years ago and i was out clubbing in Brentwood so didn't actually see.

Thanks for organising this, it was good to get down and watch some runs, take in the sounds and smells of running rotary's and speak to some of you. It's given me much motivation to get mine sorted sooner rather than later.

Only took a couple of pictures, this is the panorama I have.
