Question is. Is it worth the money or is the standard intake adequate for what I’m proposing.

Stuff started arriving.
Missus didn’t look too happy on the doorbell camera having to carry the tyres and rad up the steps.

Koyorad n-flo 48mm.
Oem 7/9 heat range spark plugs
Oem oil filter.

Collection of Yokohama A052.

The dusty pair on the bottom are 205/50/16 if anyone wants to buy them. They don’t fit anything I own any more.

Also found this in the basement racking. (Yes I have racking full of rare car parts in the basement. Yes its a problem)
I’ll look into whats needed to get this fitted above my non working stereo.

Anyone got a link to fit this in the fd?
Oil sandwich plate good enough for oil pressure and temp values?

to be fair the standard airbox set up is pretty good and probably perfect for your needs. But the Autoexe is sexy AF

Ive just watched a youtube video about a bloke complaining about the fitment of the autexe intake and the koyorad.
The rad pushes the pipework into the intake and in turn then pushes the lovely carbon i take into the bonnet.
Doesn’t sound ideal if I’ve just spent £1.2k on an intake to ruin it straight away.

Another item ticked off the list.
The missus doesn’t look too happy with all the boxes arriving today.
It was never planned to be this quick and expensive in such a short period of time but when stuff comes up for sale at a good price it’s hard to say no.

Also got these bits with the car.
I think the black cable is for the fuel pump fuse box?
Gear stick bush?
Clutch line I know.
Not sure what the other part is with the two grey connectors.

Who are you using in Japan? I always use Jesse Streeter and he always seems cheapest, especially with wheels

It is tight with a koyorad but I’ve had no issues

Random question but what is a mazdaspeed backbox worth?
In average condition but not rusted through.
Managed to find one but don’t want to rip the bloke off.

First bit of proper maintenance done.
Changed the spark plugs.
Went with the oem plug heat range of 7s and 9s as the car is stock engine wise.

Pulled all 9s out and they looked like this.


Not up to speed on reading rotary plugs but they all look the same which I know is good.

Done them from the top as I replaced them on a lunch break and didn’t want to spend the time lifting it up.
One of the easiest plug change Ive done. A k20 is the easiest and ez30 in a legacy the bastardest.

Your man in Japan is slightly rinsing you there on price for the AutoExe instake kit, RHDJapan listing it for £491.22 theres no way shipping will take it to £930. £600 at most and yes I do believe its a worth while upgrade and who doesnt love a bit of carbon.

Can you set these apexi back to a base map?

Of course you can. Im not sure how you do it though

The base map is really just to drive it to a tuner, im not sure a base map apex is better than a standard ECU on a standard car

FedEx International Priority 2-3 days - is about £90, import duty (2-10%) and vat (20%) worst case is upto 30% of the total including shipping.. even that only works out at: £727 total to your door, although you may get a £12 surcharge for customs clearance.

I paid 82000 yen (just under £400) to ship 4 18x11 wheels with DHL last year. I feel your mate may be getting an inflated price.

Then you just declare the package as about 50% of the value to save on import charges.

As aways I’ve over complicated this.

You can buy them direct from autoexe. Cost £731 shipped.
Plus whatever duties and fees the government decides this week.

Ordered. Now the 6 month wait begins.

Got papped at a local supercar meet. This got more attention than the lambos.

It was really quite lumpy hot and cold, it also didn’t like idling at traffic lights or junctions. The car would shake. It felt like a piston engine down a cylinder.
Being new to all this I just ignored it. As thats always the correct option.

After replacing the plugs for 7/9s and putting 6
tanks of 99 through it, the car seems to idle nice and smooth now. Tip in on the throttle seems to have improved as well. Almost like the throttle body has freed up from use.
Also using all the revs most drives out can fix many ailments or launch the engine. Ut its fun either way.

The Smaug like hoarding of parts has continued.
New works bell steering boss arrived from Japan.

Still undecided on what colour stitching to go with on the steering wheel. Think I will play it safe with a leather Personal Grinta 350mm with black stitching paired with a autoexe black stitch stick gear knob.
Really not getting along with the re-amemiya one. It doesn’t feel pleasant in the ball of your hand.

No its not.

The money is better spent on a single turbo conversion.
