Hi all,

I finally spent some time on the 7 over the weekend after leaving it sitting for a few years. It had cold start issues, which would result in the car flooding, which would result in me getting pissed off, which would result in me ignoring the car.

I decided to try and sort the issue so have replaced the coils and relocated them to where the air con pump was. I also added a B&M New Volt which jumps the feed voltage up to 18v. The engine oil has been changed, I have drained the old fuel and have spark plugs (9s) on order.

I am wondering if there are any other precautions or tricks I should consider... I've heard of dropping some two stroke through the spark plug ports to get things lubed?

Thanks.

I had my car laid up for about two years between starts. My startup process was:

Change oil
Change coolant
2 stroke in the plug holes
Disconnect fuel pump and crank
Reconnect fuel pump and jump to pressurise the system
Start

I had to give it some throttle to get it going but it fired up first time, even on old fuel.

My car was sat for 8 years, i pretty much did what jack.am has said to mine and changed the fuel pump as mine was seized and she fired right up ?

Good luck ☺️

I don't know what a B&M thing is. All I know is putting 18v on something that should be 12 isn't the best idea.

Might be ok if it's just ignition coils though I guess???
