I broke it quickly...And repeatedly...Chaste White Rebuild

Indeed, I’ve limited the ECU to 5500rpm, I make a small bit of boost but nothing major. I’m trying to mix up the RPM and load as much as possible rather than just cruising. Boost threshold is pretty decent though even on the big old Holset so do need to be a little careful.

I think due to the changes I’ll need to get Stu and Jay to go over the map properly before I can go balls deep with the Dragy.
Sounds very good and promising.

Yes that is a good idea worth being safe and ensuring the map is safe and on point.

Had a bit of a nightmare yesterday, went out around 4pm for a quick one hour blast to get the miles up whilst it was dry and sunny. A few miles in I was greeted with a flat rear tyre, admittedly I drove on a little bit (not far) and was greeted with this.

Less than 100 miles R888r ruined !

I was stranded for a total of 4hrs following a failed recovery attempt by AA due to my car being too low and my spare also having a puncture. I was rescued in the end by a Good Samaritan on the FD Whats App group. He drove from Gloucester with one of his wheels so I could get home.

Anyway, I was trying to curb my spending but feel I have no choice but to buy some new rims so today I’ve bought a set of Rota Slipstreams in Hyper Black. A more sensible 18 x 9.5 with some more 888s on order.

Hopefully they arrive before the weekend.

I had a similar incident with a cheaper achilles semi slick which blew out on the left rear but yours is way way worse. Glad you and the car survived, could have been a lot worse I imagine.

Holy Sh*t look at that breakdown of the side wall, was it rubbing on something or were they old stock tyres? Shame about the 4 hour recover, but that's much better than a few weeks in hospital for sure.

I’m not sure what caused it. It wasn’t rubbing or anything, I think it lost pressure and then because I drove on it for a short period it completely tore the tire. Can’t be sure but luckily I was only doing slow speeds.

I need to investigate the tyre more closely to see if there is an obvious puncture.

I don’t even care that they’re rotas, they look great man!
Yeah I’d love some Regamasters but hard to get hold of and pricey new. I do think they are going to be making them again soon, according to their website anyway.

I needed something quickly, on the shelf and under £1000 so these fit the bill.

Dropped the car off for a bit of paint and a tidy up Wednesday. A bit of custom work is needed to make the front bumper fit with my chunky front mount intercooler and decided to have front wings, doors and rear quarters done too. The arches haven’t been rolled great in the last so going to get them sorted too.

I sourced a nearly new window cowl plus I acquired some OEM door handles to swap out also. I just wanted it tidied up a tad for spring/summer.

Here’s how it sits with new wheels, fitment already is much better than the previous stanced look.

I’m also changing the 330mm Sparco wheel to a slightly larger Nardi Personal 350mm wheel, with my seating position it was annoying me that I couldn’t clearly see the full Rev counter due to the wheel being so small so hoping a larger wheel will help.

I’ve done around 250 miles running in so far and getting quite a bit of drone from the rear, MOT chap did notice a bit of play in the rear wheels so think the bearings needs replacing so I’ve order a full set both front and rear, rears arrived today, fronts should arrive this week.

Whilst the wheel bearings are getting sorted I’m going to swap out the gearbox oil with MT-90 and change the diff oil too. I personally think the box has seen better days, it definitely doesn’t sound great despite finding all gears fine.

Strip down started late last week, hopefully get some updates from the body shop during the next week or so.

Nice, definitely making the most of that opening.
Indeed mate, with such a large front mount this bumper is ideal to get the best possible air flow, also the two either side for oil coolers.

Although I do like the OE look it covers a great surface area of the intercooler sadly.
