Going single, but have i made the right choice in parts to get me there...

Really sorry to hijack this thread.

How do we all feel about this kit for a 400hp-ish flywheel target?

I was going to go for the BW EFR 7670, but after reading this thread and looking at my fairly modest goals I'm not sure i need the EFR:

He's offering a 10% discount if I pull the trigger today

My original end goal perfect turbo if i had the cash would have been an EFR but i have been told they create too much heat for rotary and they cant be rebuilt if they go wrong. Plus they are near twice as much as the SXE. From what i have heard this week you cant really go too wrong with the SXE, its a cracker (y) I went for 61mm 86/76 though.

Without actually seeing one in person those kits do look very good and well made. I was looking at the heater matrix coolant pipe this morning and wondered whether or not to get it.

move got one of their exhausts and the quality is great, I’d recommend one of these kits and know they can supply different sxe turbos with it too, just tell them which one you want 👍

What SXE would you recommend for a super fun power band @ a 400 ish flywheel target. Stock ports

Best to speak with your tuner/mapper.

If you are looking for max spool like an EFR 7670; than the closest you will find for non efr money with new tech is a borg warner sxe s257 7670 1.0 AR which will do the same as an EFR 7670, but with an additional 800rpms of lag approx.

However, a BW S300 SXE 62-76 aka a 8376 would be a better choice imo. Go for a 76mm .91 A/R for better spool; if you wont run more than 20psi.
Better Response = 76mm or Better peak power output and Higher RPM Efficiency = 80mm
Should be good for 400+ fly wheel with room to grow.

Yeah i'm pretty sure i will be ! It was the right decision.

Yeah i will ask him, im pretty sure i can just leave the plugs there. Further down the line i could delete them and make a single loom.

Yeah still have the OMP. i did look into this and i keep on seeing conflicting info some say remove and some say keep.

Idler pully (DM Motorsports) i have, i just hope turbo doesnt sit where it sits. The T78 did !

Fuel ive ordered all the main bits like fuel pump, injectors, fpr just need to sort fittings to get it plumbed in.

Ignition is currently stock havent looked into this as of yet.

Cooling i have a vmount now which i havent used yet. This came with an ali rad and twin spals (which i need to work out how to wire in to the loom so they still switch on with PFC and with my AC button if possible)

Will heat wrap DP/mani and might look into turbo blanket.

I know a guy with a sxe 366 and he made 542hp and 432 lb ft at only 1.15 bar on a bridge port. So these sxe turbos do flow well if matched correctly.

I cant wait to see what you do with a sxe 362 at 1.1 to 1.2 bar on a stock port. Either way it will be a fun and fast car with a linear power delivery.

Get an hks twin power if you decide to keep the oem ignition system or better yet an aem or haltech smart coil ignition upgrade would be the way to go imo.

Stick to the 8376, ie the 76mm wheel. You don’t need the 8380 for this size.

You and me both. I’m already itching to drive it and don’t have the turbo in my hands yet 😂.
The twin powers are also as much as aem coils nowadays ! Madness.

Sorry to be needy.
I asked Steve about sxe options. He sent this:

Ah so you mean the 83/76 rather than the 83/80 I have listed.

In this case I agree with you for sure. They are the same price I should add this option to the site too. The S300 range has about 50 different combinations the 61mm 83/76 will be perfect for what your looking for there the same price too so you can still change your mind after if you feel the need but I would say the S300 sxe 61mm 83/76 is ideal. Just choose the hot side you want and I'll spec it with that turbo

You have 0.88 1.00 and 0.91 in those

Just to confuse you a bit more I can also do it with the S257 sxe lol that's a smaller turbo that's rated to 300-600 bhp at the flywheel with similar hot side options.

The S362 is 300-550 whp which is more. Like 350-600+ at the flywheel

But if your shooting for 400 whp then the S362 will be the one to go for.

Haha you'll be up and running before you know it :D

Probably better to err on the side of caution and get new aem coils than rely on an used twin power and 20 year old stock coils.

Go for the s362 sxe 83/76mm with the .91 ar; you will make 400bhp flywheel easily and with the right supporting mods and a good mapper even 400 at the wheels. This will be a good future proof option for you.

How about a sizeable Holset? 😂

Basically a mate of mine sells turbos and it was the only one out of his stash that fitted directly onto my Greddy manifold without any major modifying plus I got it for a good price (£250) new.

Its a Holset HX50 with a 99mm compressor wheel with 67mm inducer, capable of upwards of 850bhp on piston engine.

Its a 25cm T4 twin scroll turbine housing with 3.5in v-band outlet and 80mm exducer (86mm inducer) 12 blade turbine wheel.

It made 600hp at around 1.3 to 1.4 bar approx but capable of more next time.

We’ve done a little comparison to other FDs using different turbos (All BWs) and the old Holset actually stacks up quite well when comparing boost threshold vs power etc.

Sounds like a riot

what do you single turbo guys do with the wastegate exhaust? Leave it to atmosphere or pipe it back in ? Im guessing open its very loud ? And does it sound odd ?

Also parts are arriving :D Have my fueling bits just need to work out connectors i need from placement of FPR etc. Bought an AEM smart coil kit. Still waiting on the turbo seems the exhaust housing went out of stock from me waiting around too long :cautious:.

Might have to actually update my build thread at some point.
