With this track talk. Do you guys run an oil catch can to allow for the serge up and out the neck
I put a plastic bottle in temporary and fuck all came out.

I'm going to install a check valve and filter and plumb it to the manifold

I’m single but on the last autosolo it chucked a bit over the top of the engine.

What setup you running. Any pics?

I run a IR Performanc baffled oil filler neck with AN12 fittings and hose to a AN12 750ml catch can.

Not sure how well you can see it in these photos.

It is Joe but i know that area pretty well and well certainly be staying over the night before.

I too run a catch can but tbh since going single I've not seen so much in there. I do only ever fill up 1/2 the dipstick out of habit now though from my twin days.

This is because Blyton is counterclockwise so oil won't naturally shoot up the filler neck. On a clockwise track (most of them) every time you are on boost coming out of a corner oil shoots up the filler neck and into the catch can depending on how much pressure is being created in the sump.

so after reading this about oil catch cans, i think i'll need to sort something temporarily on my stock FD ....

Does anyone have any quick easy solutions that i can do for the day on the track, or is it worth just putting something in permanently anyway?

I dont expect to do many track days.... unless i get a real taste for it after this event 🤦‍♂️

Haha, it's very addictive mind!! A quick and easy removable solution is to take the pipe of the top of the filler neck and blank the pipe. Run a bit of hose from the filler nipple to a container of your choice. I've seen everything from sprite bottles to redbull cans so the world's your oyster.

Only pointer would be just to check everything is secure as a hose flapping hot oil everywhere is smokey.

This is usually just misty hot oil but my experience tracking my twin was if your oil level is full when you start. Expect it to be around a 1/3 full after some hot laps. The remainder will be in your catch can.

I always found it best to only run with the oil 1/2 way up the dipstick instead of full to the brim, i still use that method to this day.

Remember this is usually only applicable to fast right handers, so predominately left hand tracks is no problem.

Excellent, thanks!... I'll definitely sort something out for the day then.

If it becomes a regular thing after this, then i guess i'll buy something more permanent (y)

Has anyone booked up for this yet? I should be in a position to book up next week.

Nearest vpower is pretty close about 4 miles up the a11 towards Norwich. Attlebrough services.

Haven't booked yet but will do so.

Yes, I use that Shell as well. Cheaper than the petrol on site at the track and better food than what is in the Snetterton carfeteria!

@jdmr_neil - you said you had a lot of points to spend with Javelin. Would those be applicable for garages as well if we wanted to secure 1 or 2 for the day to store our stuff?

If there's a lot of us going then it might be possible to get a few garages chucked in. Malcolm has managed this on the Snetterton days I've attended with the RX8OC. Those days weren't with Javelin though..

Yeah I'm not sure but i can certainly ask 👍,

Ill be honest i was more planning on using that as the offset for hotel and 5hrs each way,

Ill certainly try to get at least one from points

That is all good and merry but this is FD owners. Half of the confirmed so far are likely to cancel by the time the track day comes around. I would rather get those garages secured now than wait and see who is actually going to attend the track day.

Ok i can certainly get at least one on points alone. Any others would have to be paid for separately.

When i book ill book it with a garage so we are at least sure we have a base.

Great. I will book the track day today and the accommodation today.

I'll let Stu know as well since he wants to bring two FD's. His white track car on 99 twins and his blue car running 1.8-2.0 bar of boost on a S366.

Snet is a left hander right? Anti clockwise circuit.

Clockwise. The only left handers of significant note are Oggies and Hamilton. Hamilton is a blast.

Best corners on the track are Riches off the main straight, Bomb Hole and Coram.

The straights are also a blast and configured for serious speed.

Ah ok cool, i may change my two fronts then as the passenger front is slick on the outer third.
