I'm looking for some info from anyone that's got a borg Warner fitted that got an external wastegate.
Here's the scenario my engine is being 're built at the moment with a slightly larger and smoother street port, as housings were difficult to get my hands on I got some from jap land, one is like new but has the largest pineapple racing port which is designed for large turbos. So what might happen with my current turbonetics setup is it could reduce spool due to reduced exhaust velocity so I'm considering replacing the turbo with a borg Warner hoping my edrx7 manifold and plumbed in downpipe will be ok to use. ( current turbo hits full boost at about 4k and goes onto 500fwhp at 1 bar)
The hope would be that as borg earners are renowned for having a low spool I could utilise this along with the porting to create a bit of a beast, I would be happy at 500bhp just with better spool and throttle response.
Spool who's running one of these turbos?? I'm guessing a 366sx or similar would be the one to go for but would value any info or feedback from people in the know.
