Moving my steering wheel back - NRG Short Hub?

I currently run a NRG Gen 2.0 Quick Release with my Personal Steering Wheel. I did this a couple years ago because the steering wheel was touching my knees while driving in the factory position. The Quick Release worked great for me and I like the wheel a little closer on track but for road driving it's a bit uncomfortably close and reaching the stalks requires me to take my hands off the wheel.

I was thinking of giving the NRG shorty hub a try but I'm worried about quality issues which I have read here and there. Does anyone in here have experience with the shorty hub from NRG, or perhaps another brand?

I'm using one (with a gen 2.0 QR too), the column mount stubby thing so you don't need a spline to 6 bolt adaptor?

its been pretty crap for me, I get a lot of side to side play in the wheel, not left right steering but pull push. I've had a new NRG short adaptor sent by driftworks and it's been the same.

Next step for them will be to send me a new Gen 2 Quick release unit. Driftworks say they have them on their staff cars and have no 'unusual' play for a quick release (mine is ridiculous)

Do you have any play in the quick release?

If your hub has no play, then NRG need to look at the FD short hub as it either dosen't fully latch, or is slightly too narrow (allowing the play)

Both driftworks and NRG have been good-ish with returns, only bummer is they need your (my) unit back to exchange. I did try and blag it would leave me with no steering wheel, apparently they have to send them back to the US... some bs about the stock they order....

I run an NRG short hub and quick release and have ZERO and I mean ZERO play. Not sure why others are having issues. mine are basically these

Same had no issues and can reach the stalks like stock

Interesting. I may just start off by removing the quick release and connecting the Personal wheel to my Momo hub and see if that is driveable. Otherwise a NRG short hub with my existing quick release or the momo hub with a thin version of the quick release may work.

It's where it mates to the QR itself.

Deffo not wobbling on the column, and it is the correct part.

Called Driftworks and there going to exchange it with a 3rd one, and they said they'd test fit it before sending it to me.

I had a good look and a measure with a dial caliper and i looks like the stubby column mounts are longer at the top than the one that's in the kit, so the balls don't fully lock - allowing the play.

I want to grind a bit off the top to try before sending it back, I'll ask DW if they mind as it's useless anyway lol.
