Help/advice for building a single turbo 13B

Hello all,

I purchased my RX7 project middle of last year with all it needing was an engine set up dropping in and it would have been back on the road.
When I got the project home I decided I wanted to turn it into a real project and turn it into a road legal track car, so began to rip the interior etc out to accomadate this. I also started to replace exterior bodywork with panels I wanted, seeing as I only intend on building this whole project once.

Anyway, I am getting closer now to buying an engine and starting to build a single turbo set up, but I wanted opinions and guidance on which parts people would recommend.

I am going to be buying a brand new crate engine which i will get street ported, so I will know the exact history of the engine and hopefully ensure reliability. And I am pretty certain I will be running the Borg Warner EFR 8374 with EWG.

However I am unsure on all the other ancillaries (fuel pump, primary and secondary rails, ECU, should I run a water/meth system etc etc). This is going to be a complete blank canvas so everything will be new and I am looking for reliable power as well as good quality parts.

I am hoping to be running between 400 and 450bhp but would like all the ancills to be comfortable and not pushing there limits just in case I decide to go for more power later down the line.

Basically I am asking for opinions on which ancillaries you would suggest, knowing what power I am hoping for etc. I appreciate this could be a huge ask but any help would be massively appreciated!

Fuel system

• 750cc or 1000cc Bosch Primary's (DM Motorsport)
• 1680cc Bosch Secondary's (DM Motorsport)
• Bosch 044 fuel pump in tank (torques UK sell it with a fuel sock and the outlet to barb fittings)
• DM Motorsport fuel rails
• Fuelab or Aeromotive FPR
• lines and fittings from Torques uk

- Link G4 plugin

Any ideas if water/meth system would be recommended or if I would be alright without?

For me personally meth isn't a necessity more just a fad. Most people who use water/meth don't get mapped for the added octane the meth provides and only use it for the rapid cooling the water provides.
With that said a water/meth inj system for the price is fantastic and i can't see why everyone doesn't use it. I only use water and my intake temps drop very quickly when pushing the car. The choice is there if you want to mix with meth as this will also provide a less chance of detonation with the increased octane.

My single turbo conversion was pretty much the below.

Engine refresh with big street port and goopy seals
Injector dynamics 1050x and 1700x
Turblown EFR 8374 kit
Os giken twin plate
V mount
Upgrade oil coolers
Aem smart coils
Aem fuel pump
Aem water meth injection
Link ECU

Not a bad way to spend 10 thousand pounds.

Don’t buy your fuel hose from Torques.
Do double whatever your budget is.
IMO go FFE or Radium for your fuel rails and FPR.
Save the money you’d spend on AI and buy some smart coils.
Buy a more modern ECU than the Apex.
Upgrade your radiator as well as your IC.

There is a basically brand new, covered less than 500 miles EFR Turbo kit for sale in the for sale section atm would just require you to add a 8374 super core and you would have hands down the best turbo kit available and the latest and greatest in turbo technology in the form of the EFR range all for a huge saving! That's what i'd go for if it were me. A little birdie even told me the guy will listen to sensible offers
