As you're probably aware we've been setting up trade forums for established company's in the rotary trade since we started.

We've now come to a point where none rotary company's are inquiring about becoming traders. Obviously, making every company under the sun a trader isn't going to work long term.

Based on this, we would appreciate feedback on how you think trader requests should be handled (from both normal members and traders)

Some possible solutions:
  1. Fixed annual fee for a trader forum
  2. Flexible fee for trader forum (not sure how we would base this cost) - maybe higher price for a stand alone forum with a lower fee for a sub forum)
  3. Each trader get approved/disapproved by our members (you) - Trader needs to provide discount or a service that is beneficial to uses

Current traders

Any current trade forums will remain active for a lengthy 'grace period' regardless of what decision is made going forward.

As a trader I under stand there always going to be a cost we are willing to work with you on this thanks
Rotortorque

I like the sound of option 3.

Anyone offering a benefit to us would be great, and a more relevant and useful reason for a trader to be part of the forum.

And feedback about bad service could help others, or even the trader (if there was a 'bad one') to fix there act etc...

I like option 3 but I can see how that system might be open to abuse especially in a community which has a history of groups with preferred tuners/companies. I think maybe have option three but leave it open for rotary related business (ie no approval), but where approval will be required for someone like opie oils or meister R or the like?

Agree
I vote totally open for rotary related traders
And for others discount for members or other benifits subject to approval from members.
Maybe if club finances are looking bleak this could be reviewed in future for a fixed fee?

As a club I think we should be supporting and promoting all rotary small business owners as 99% of the time they love the cars as much as we do. And are willing to start a business around that with a very small market audience.
We all want Stu from rotor torque to offer his advice on fault finding ect.

Personally I like option 3 as trader I can give more to people I also have trade Acc with other company's that are asking to become trader on here and that then stops small trader like me being able to help with prices and discount other wise there be no point trying to offer anyparts

I went with ‘other’, but I guess a mix of 2 and 3.

I’d prefer a tiered system where community traders that we trust (garageREG, Rotortorque, DM...) get free access. Generic motor parts companies have to pay.

i like this approach too. A very small fee of something like £20 for the year. This would stop any chancer's trying to get a forum and stop us having millions of polls for users.
