So I've just gone to view an FD that was imported a year ago, supposedly had a comp test prior to deport with numbers in the 6's (no proof). It's been sat for a year and my question is how do rotarys fair after a long time standing, with likeky the occasional start up (but no driving out due to it not being registered). Obviously would need all the fluids changed and filters and fresh fuel. Any other advice?
Not much is known on the car other then it looks standard with a hks filter an exhaust system.
After jump leading it started up straight away, no smoke. But couldn't test drive it as in a built up area and not registered.
Game of Russian roulette anyone?

All depends on price really. 6s isn't great compression anyway but the fact it started straight away and I guess to ran ok means engine can't be that bad. If car generally looks good, no rust issues and the price is good enough that you could rebuild it and still feel you got it cheap then go for it.

I dont believe that, 6 is not a good compression. High 6 is a decent compression and that sort of a compression is never indicative of low compression or weak engine...

Like I said, 6s isn't great. Its decent if it's high 6s but with no proof and just to say it was in 6s is too vague.
I wouldn't pay top money for a car which was in 6s regardless of not being able to test drive it. I would factor a rebuild in some time soon.

Mine sat for 8 years, i fitted a new fuel pump, plugs and a battery and it fired up , i had comp test 6.4/6.7 odd and drove it two years like that.

Had to be built after two years as coolant passages were all corroded letting water in the engine .

If the car is a bargain price then go for it. But factor in a rebuild and vairous maintanace or else itd be easier buying a fresh built car 👍

I would be worried about water seal failure and a comp test wouldn’t indicate that.... but like everyone has said.... if it’s cheap enough then worth a punt.
